Types of Equestrian Boots

As in all aspects of life today, when it comes to horse riding boots, there are many different models and styles. All existing types can be classified into a few well-defined groups that can be considered specific types of riding boots. Our choice will have to take into account which ones are most suitable depending on the needs we want to cover and, of course, our tastes.

One of the oldest and best known types is the type of English boot: These are the most commonly used for horse show jumping. They are usually made of leather and are light, comfortable and flexible. Aesthetically, they can be found with laces or zippers.

Within the English type boots, we can find a subtype intended mainly for classical dressage. The boot is still made of leather, meeting the requirements of lightness and flexibility, but they are also usually made of a single piece and without decorations, normally being predominantly black. This type of boot stands out for its austerity and aims to match the rest of the rider's uniform.

Another of the most used types of boots, in this case due to their low cost, are the Rubber bootsThey are usually made of rubber and are quite resistant, as well as easy to clean and require very little maintenance. Unlike leather boots, these boots breathe very little, which can make sweat a problem when it accumulates inside the boot. The temperature generated inside this boot is also higher, so it is not recommended for all types of activities, especially during times of the year when it is very hot. Paradoxically, it is often used by staff who take care of animals and stables, and it is also widely used in other jobs not related to horse riding, jobs where physical effort is common, as we have said this may be due to the difference in price between some boots and others.

Another type of boots that are well known in the world of horse riding and dressage in general are the Cowboy bootsThey are also used in all kinds of work related to the countryside, livestock, etc. They are usually made of calfskin, although they can be made with different leathers and normally have some kind of decoration, although simple. These are boots that are used today not only for horse riding or for work in the fields, they are also used as boots to dress up on any occasion. They are currently very fashionable and influential people such as the Princess of England wear them regularly.

Finally the cowboy boots, which are very similar to cowboy boots but usually with many more decorations, such as fringes and drawings and the like. They were primarily designed for work, although today they are also used in horse riding and also for everyday wear.
