This Saturday, the Horse Fair was illuminated by the glow of the prominent role of women in the equestrian field. The Huelva Equestrian Association (AHE) took the initiative with a manifesto and various exhibitions, dedicating this day to celebrate and demand equal opportunities between both genders.
On Saturday morning, Sonia Bejarano led the reading of a manifesto against the backdrop of the city of Huelva, describing it as a melting pot of “joy, beauty, sea and autumn”. Against this backdrop, the Horse Fair stands as a bastion of equality. Bejarano highlighted that, despite the daily challenges faced by women in society, the equestrian world removes barriers. Here, agility, coordination and the connection between the rider and the horse are the only crucial elements, dissolving invisible walls. Bejarano praised the vibrant touch that women bring to the event with their colourful outfits, encouraging them to display their flyers in the streets during this festive weekend.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, and representatives of the AHE, the municipal corporation and the Hermandad del Rocío de Huelva. Miranda stressed the importance of advocating for equal opportunities, eliminating discrimination and allowing everyone to live in freedom with the best possible conditions. She also highlighted the existence of a purple point in the venue, emphasizing the significant role of the women's manifesto in this fair, giving it relevance in these important days for the association and Huelva society.
The Huelva Equestrian Association highlighted that the Autumn Fair has prioritized the presence of women on horseback, recognizing the work and perseverance that has allowed them to stand out in all equestrian disciplines. The continued growth of this world was underlined, evidenced by the numerous exhibitions that show the beauty and skill of women in this field.
The equestrian programme at the Horse Fair this Saturday was fully immersed in the objective of giving visibility to the figure of women in the equestrian world, presenting high-calibre exhibitions with female riders and a flamenco dance show with the additional grace of the noble horses.
This year, the 2023 Horse Fair stands out not only for the elegance of the horses, but also for being a stage where women shine with their own light, demonstrating that their role in the equestrian world is more important than ever.
