Differences between country boots and cowboy boots

Nowadays, both country boots and cowboy boots are in fashion, and although at first glance they may seem very similar, and their original function was the same, there are substantial differences that make it easy to distinguish them.

Both types of boots are experiencing a golden age, for both men and women, both are widely in demand to combine with all kinds of looks and to be used in all kinds of situations, which have nothing to do with their original function. In Spain and Europe, country boots are more commonly used than cowboy boots, which are more commonly used in the USA and South America.

On our website we find a wide range of both women's cowboy boots as of men's cowboy boots, handcrafted in Valverde del Camino, where one of the most recognized types of cowboy boots in Spain is manufactured, it is the rociero bootWe have already talked about this type of cowboy boot in other articles on our blog.

Originally, the function of the cowboy boots and of the cowboy boots were the same, the objective was to use footwear that would be useful for field work, that would be sufficiently resistant, durable and at the same time comfortable, to withstand long days of work in the field, long walks, uneven terrain, sand, dust, mud, and under all types of weather conditions.

Country boots are mainly characterised by the robustness of their materials, the height of the shaft, designed to avoid rubbing against weeds in the field, and an elegant design, generally sober, without any decorations beyond the dotted leather. Often, country boots have a very practical side zipper that helps us to put them on quickly. As regards colour, they generally have the typical colours of the Andalusian countryside, earth tones, more or less light browns. In a truly comfortable shoe, it has to be so so that the person wearing it can endure long days of work in the field. In this sense, its wide and loose shaft fits perfectly with any type of leg. The leather from which they are made is resistant as well as breathable and flexible, which allows them to fit the foot like a glove. A generally stylised last and a more or less rounded toe define the characteristics of this type of boot.

As for cowboy boots, they became fashionable thanks to Hollywood movies in the 60s and they come back in fashion year after year thanks to, among other things, movies and Hollywood. This type of boot is characterized by using more exotic lines than cowboy boots, a design supported by ornaments and embroidery along with a lower shaft with the upper part cut in the shape of a fish mouth. The toe of the shoe is more pointed than cowboy boots, and the colors of the boot, although generally brown also stands out, we can also find them in other colors. Regarding the materials, in both cases leather is used and the quality will depend on the manufacturer. In our case, for our cowboy boots we only use leather of the highest quality, carefully chosen from among the best suppliers in our country.

Ultimately, the main difference between country boots and cowboy boots lies in the design and their place of origin. At 5V we only make country boots, in the traditional way, following the tradition of Valverde del Camino. Check out our catalogue and don't hesitate to ask us, we will be happy to help you.
