What are riding boots? How many types are there? What types of riding boots do we sell at 5V?

Horse riding is an activity that requires learning as well as a perfect understanding of the horse and the world around it. But in addition to that, safety is important and it is therefore a condition to have the appropriate equipment. Within this equipment, riding boots are vital for this sport, and that is what we are going to talk about in this article.

In this article we are going to look at the different types of riding boots for men and women, so that if you are interested in this practice, you know what you have to buy and why.

Riding boots

This is the most general definition, and refers to all types of boots that we use for horse riding. These boots are important because they are designed for safety in case something happens while you are riding.

There are different boots depending on the discipline you are going to do, so when you are going to buy this type of boots, what we are going to do is important to reach the final choice.

Equestrian boots

These types of boots are used in equestrian competitions. They are usually soft and flexible boots, since the most important thing is to maintain control over the horse, especially when jumping or similar.

They usually have laces in the instep area and have a back or front zipper, depending on the model.

If the boots are for dressage, they should be somewhat stiffer, since you will be combining work on the ground with riding, so they should be resistant in both situations.

The sole should not stick to the mud and obviously, they should be comfortable enough to be worn for a long time without you noticing it too much, at least at that point.

Riding boots

We will consider riding boots to be all those that we are going to use during any activity with a horse, whether at a competition level or for other purposes.

In this sense, we can find specific boots for hunting, where boots with gaiters are usually used and where design is also something that matters. If what we are going to do is go through the countryside, cross-country boots are the best choice, since they have a resistant sole and are usually very flexible at the same time.

In general, off-road boots are not only flexible but also insulate against water that may get in. This is one of the worst things that can happen to a rider, or at least one of the most uncomfortable.

Cowboy boots

Finally, we can include these boots as one of the types, since it was originally like that. It is true that today these boots have a more aesthetic function and uses, although we could use them for horse riding, since they meet many of the necessary requirements.

They are resistant, somewhat flexible and have the ability to be safe in case of falls from the horse, among other situations. It is true, however, that today we are going to find them more in fashion than in the world of horses and horse riding.
